Luxury car towing in Auckland: caring for a low supercar

Moving a Lamborghini or another low sports car? Check loading clearance, model instructions, wheel restraints and handover before booking a flatbed in Auckland.

A low front splitter, wide wheels and model-specific recovery controls all need attention before a supercar goes onto a truck. When arranging transport for a Lamborghini or another prestige car, explain its current condition and the access at both ends of the journey. The operator needs that information to assess the loading method and suitable equipment.

These photographs come from a Lamborghini transport job supplied by Drive1. The body colour has been changed with AI and visible registration details covered for the owner’s privacy. They illustrate the vehicle and truck; they do not show every loading or securing check.

Check the whole loading path, including unloading

The front bumper is only one clearance point. A splitter can catch as the car approaches a ramp; the underside can run close to the deck where the slope changes; side skirts and the rear diffuser also need room. A steep driveway or a raised entrance at the destination can create a different problem from the pickup site.

Send clear side and front photographs, details of lowered suspension or added bodywork, and pictures of any ramp, kerb or tight turn. Give measurements only when they can be taken safely. Our low-car photo and measurement guide explains what to include.

Tell the operator if the car has a front-lift system and whether it currently works. Agero’s 2016 Aventador guidance describes a nose-lift feature that can assist loading. That is a model-specific example, not confirmation that every Lamborghini has the same equipment. The actual car’s instructions and clearance still need checking; a lift function alone does not establish a safe ramp angle.

Match the transport method to the exact model

A flatbed carries the car with all four wheels off the road during the journey. Drive1 offers lie-flat flatbed transport for low and prestige vehicles, with suitability assessed for the particular car and location. Deck width, usable space, vehicle weight and access all matter alongside ground clearance.

Provide the make, model, year and variant, plus the recovery section of the owner’s manual if available. For an all-wheel-drive car, ask the operator to check the manufacturer’s restrictions before any wheels are left rolling on the road. Selecting neutral alone does not establish that a towing method is suitable.

Report a flat battery, missing key, steering lock, parking brake that will not release, or a car that cannot select neutral. If a wheel, tyre or suspension component is damaged, say so before the truck is dispatched. Avoid forcing a control or trying to drag a locked wheel to make collection easier. The operator can assess what the move requires, using the correct instructions or guidance from the dealer.

Confirm how the car will be loaded and secured

Loading fittings and transport restraints have different jobs. Ask the operator to identify the approved recovery attachment and securing method for the actual car. A towing eye should not be assumed suitable as a transport tie-down point; body panels, suspension parts and wheel spokes should not be treated as convenient attachment points without the relevant instructions.

Agero publishes separate Aventador guidance for the tow eye, nose lift and carrier tie-down. This shows why the details need checking together. It does not establish the model year of the car pictured or document the complete restraint arrangement used on that job.

Ask how the chosen restraints will avoid contact with painted panels, wheel finishes, brake lines and low bodywork. Waka Kotahi’s safe-loading guidance calls for suitable anchorages, sound restraints and load checks before and during travel. Leave the loading area clear while the operator works, and raise a concern before movement begins.

Agree on the securing method for the actual car. A single photograph cannot show the complete restraint setup.

Allow time for a careful handover

For a planned move, photograph accessible bumper edges, wheel rims, sills and existing marks before collection. Keep the originals and agree who receives the car and keys. Remove valuables and tell the operator about any loose accessories or removable roof panels that need separate arrangements.

Confirm that the destination has room to unload and someone available to receive the vehicle. Compare its condition with the pickup record after unloading, in a safe place away from the truck. For the fuller checklist, see our prestige and classic car handover guide. Check the transport terms and any questions about cover before booking.
